Simon Says is a four-member band based in Sacramento, California. \u00a0The band has achieved national prominence thanks to touring with acts such as Limp Bizkit and Staind.\u00a0 Zac Diebels, guitarist of Simon Says, claims the reason for their success is a heavy focus on the audience. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“When the kids come to our show, we don\u2019t want them to think that since we are up on the stage that we are unapproachable. \u00a0Crowd interaction and just getting to know the fans is what we are all about.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\nSimon Says will kick off their summer tour in Omaha at the Ranch Bowl on June 8th in support of the bands latest CD release \u201cShut Your Breath\u201d. The tour is slated to begin in Omaha because according to Zac, \u201cOmaha is a great town and every time we\u2019ve played there we\u2019ve had great crowds. \u00a0The people are great and we really like the place.\u201d \u00a0The start of a new tour is nothing new to the band as Simon Says usually remains on tour for about three hundred days a year. \u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s a lot of fun but there are times when it sucks. \u00a0You are always on the go and constantly eating a lot of crappy food.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The members of Simon Says have known each other since they were sixteen and that is also when they first started jamming together. \u00a0\u201cThat\u2019s what\u2019s great about this band,\u201d said Zach. \u00a0\u201c We are all great friends and we get to do what we love for a living. \u00a0Hopefully, that comes across in our music.\u201d When asked to describe the bands musical style, Zach said, \u201cWe are a combination of Deftones and Staind, with a heavy dose of Tool for good measure.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the topic of boy bands and the shameful corporate pimping of the music industry came up, Zach responded with an uninhibited flurry of positive feedback. \u00a0\u201cI think right now, rock music is on the way up. \u00a0Boy bands aren\u2019t artists, but they are entertainers and we shouldn\u2019t hate them for that no matter how bad they obviously suck. \u00a0Turn on the radio now and you\u2019ve got bands like Tool, Deftones, Disturbed and they are all very successful.\u00a0 Rock music is definitely on the come up.\u201d<\/p>\n

All music aside, a question for the ages was unfurled in Zach\u2019s direction: Who would win a street fight between Phil Donahue and Geraldo Rivera? \u00a0Zach initially leaned toward Donahue, but then it was revealed that Donahue could NOT use his trademark glasses as a weapon. \u00a0Zach\u2019s response \u201cA draw. \u00a0They\u2019re both bad muthas.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another question was posed to Zach: Do you know anyone who owns a Michael Bolton CD? \u00a0How do you explain his fame and\/or ponytail? \u00a0Zach\u2019s father is guilty of possessing a Michael Bolton CD. \u00a0Shameful indeed. \u00a0I wonder what Chino Moreno would say? \u00a0As for explaining his fame, Zach had this reply \u201cSingle, middle-aged women.\u201d \u00a0The ponytail however, remained inexplicable.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
